Qantas Buys Three Bombardier Q Series Turboprops

Bombardier Aerospace announced that Qantas Airways of Australia has placed a firm order for three new 50-seat Q300* Series turboprop airliners and has also purchased a 36-seat Dash 8® Q200 aircraft previously leased from Bombardier. Deliveries of the new Bombardier Q300 aircraft are scheduled for the second quarter of 2003.

Qantas will place the aircraft with its QantasLink regional network, which includes the Dash 8 operations of Eastern Australia Airlines and Sunstate Airlines.

With this order, the QantasLink Bombardier Aerospace fleet will consist of 32 aircraft, of which 12 are Q Series.

“We are delighted that Qantas has once again returned to Bombardier to fill its regional aircraft requirements,” said John Giraudy, president, Bombardier Regional Aircraft. “Qantas’ existing Dash 8 and Q Series fleet has proven to be reliable and passenger friendly. As importantly, the economics of the Q Series especially over short sectors makes this aircraft extremely competitive.”
