Jetsgo Offers $1 Fares

...After Taxes, etc., That's $62.62, Thank You

Canada's Jetsgo is one year old, and to celebrate that milestone, it's offering $1 fares on the return leg, between Toronto and other Canadian cities.

Jetsgo does all the work, and gets $1. The government, airports, and so on, get as much as an additional $61.32.

Here's how that works (all figures are in Canadian currency):

  • Air Fare: $1
  • General Sales Tax (7%): 7¢
  • Navigation tax: $15
  • Fuel Surcharge: $22
  • Insurance (baggage) Surcharge: $3
  • Security Surcharge: $6.55
  • Airport Improvement Surcharge (Montreal and Vancouver): $15

It's still a heck of a good deal. The $1 fares went on sale Thursday night, and will be offered for a week, or until they're all booked up.

The airline also recently announced it's adding 50% to its capacity, with an order for four new MD-83s, the only model in its livery.
