Does the price of fuel keep you from flying? The folks at Redbird's Skyport in San Marcos, Texas want to know - and to find out - they’re offering avgas at $1 a gallon for the month of October!

You heard right, $1 a gallon! The cheap fuel will be available to any piston aircraft that can fly in and then out of the airport BUT - as the pilot you'll have to participate in a survey about how your flying habits and how - if at all - the cost of fuel impacts your decisions. A number of Eurocopter Super Puma helicopters have been grounded following the recommendation of the UK’s Helicopter Safety Steering Group in the wake of last week’s fatal crash off Shetland Island in the UK. Add to that number - two Super Pumas operated by the Bristow Group in Nigeria. The French team of Vincent Leÿs and Christophe Houver has won the 57th Coupe Aéronautique Gordon Bennett balloon race. The pair landed Wednesday at 8:00 am (local) August 28th at Lamas (Portugal) after a flight of 757 nautical miles following their launch Sunday morning from Lorraine, France.
