CAS Meets Rosie The Riveter

Attended Reception In The B-29 'Doc' Hangar

Certified Aviation Services, LLC (CAS), had the honor to attend AIA’s 2019 Spring Supplier Management Council Meeting (SMC) hosted by, Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kansas.

AIA held a networking reception for attendees at the B-29 hangar. On display was the B-29 called “Doc”.

The aircraft was accompanied by Kansas’ original Rosie the Riveter, Connie Palacioz. Mrs. Palacioz worked as a riveter for Boeing on the B-29 program from 1943-1945. Seven decades later, Mrs. Palacioz volunteered to help restore Doc at the Spirit AeroSystems facility. The restoration was completed after 300,000 hours and returned to the air in July of 2016.

The CAS team was fortunate enough to meet Mrs. Palacioz. They discussed her accomplishments as well as what it was like to be a working woman during the 1940’s. Paulina Vivanco, Director of Marketing and Communications for CAS, stated, “It was great to see how proud she was of all her accomplishments and the hard work she continues to do with Doc at 94 years old. She helped pave the way for women and minorities in the aviation industry. It is absolutely amazing to think of what these incredible women did with very limited technology back then.”

AIA’s SMC meetings are a non-attributional forum where senior supply chain representatives from across America’s aerospace and defense industry meet to discuss issues facing the supply chain as well as hear the latest trends taking place in the industry.
