Norwegian Acquires Two New, Bigger Dreamliners

Both To Be Delivered Early In 2016

Norwegian has signed an agreement to acquire two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Both aircraft will be delivered in the first quarter of 2016. The 787-9 is larger than the 787-8 that Norwegian currently operates on its long-haul routes.

Norwegian continues to expand its international operations by signing an agreement with MG Aviation to lease two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Both aircraft are scheduled to be in operation during the first quarter of 2016. Today, Norwegian has three 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft in its long-haul fleet, as well as five more on order. The company will have 10 long-haul aircraft in its fleet, where of four will be delivered in 2014, one in 2015 and two in 2016.

“In order to run a competitive long-haul operation, we are dependent on brand new cost-efficient aircraft. I´m very satisfied to have secured our first two 787-9 Dreamliners. This is a fantastic airplane with high passenger comfort, long range and low fuel burn,” said Norwegian’s CEO Bjørn Kjos.

The leasing company MG Aviation is based in New York and owned by Jordache Enterprises. “We are proud to have Norwegian as our lessee of two aircraft in our growing portfolio. We were impressed with Norwegian´s strategy of designing their long-haul operations to take advantage of Boeing´s game changing 787-9 Dreamliner,” said Jordache Enterprises Chairman Joe Nakash.
