Lancair Showcases Piston Evolution At Sun-'n-Fun 2016

Powered By Lycoming iE2 Engine

Lancair International is pleased to announce its latest Lycoming powered Evolution kit delivery during an unveiling flight at the Sun-N-Fun International Fly-In and Expo in Lakeland, FL. The iE2 Evolution is powered by a Lycoming Integrated Electronic controlled FADEC controller engine.

The new customer piston powered Evolution will be flying in the showcase along with our Turbine powered Evolution, at the 2016 Sun-N-Fun Fly-in, on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 around noon. Following the showcase, the first customer iE2 Evolution aircraft will be taxied to the Lancair booth MD-008A and will be on display for the remainder of the Sun-N-Fun show. Lancair will also have a complete Lycoming iE2 engine on display.

Kevin Eldredge, Director of Business Development at Lancair, will be holding a press conference on April 7, 2016 from 9:00am to 9:45am in the Tom Davis building on the Sun-N-Fun grounds.

Lycoming’s iE2 engine is the company’s flagship technology. It is an engine control concept designed from the ground up to improve safety and efficiency in operation. The iE2 system features continuously optimizing multi-port fuel injection systems for optimum power and fuel consumption performance. The electronically controlled system enables operators to realize reduced maintenance costs and increased availability while simultaneously reducing pilot workload. Added to this is the ability of the engine control unit to continuously monitor and report engine performance.

Kevin Eldredge stated, “What amazed me the most about the iE2 technology was the amount of data the iE2 is constantly reading and adjusting. This information is constantly updating and fine tuning the engine to protect itself, as well as produce exactly the best performance for each phase of flight, Working with the Lycoming technical team to build a custom profile for the Evolution has been a fantastic experience and I cannot wait to start.  Demonstrating this combination of the proven Evolution flight characteristics, and this exciting new engine technology from Lycoming.”

“Lycoming is proud to be a part of this project, and our team has been working diligently with Lancair to support the launch of this aircraft,” stated Michael Kraft, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Lycoming Engines.
