Middle Tennessee State University Adds to their collection of Diamonds

An Octuplet of DA40s Bolsters MTSU Flight Department's Single Engine Numbers

Middle Tennesee State University has acquired 8 more Diamond DA40 aircraft, growing the foundation of their department by adding even more of their mainstay aircraft.

The DA40 has stalwartly served as the backbone of the MTSU flight department since 2003, serving as a capable, tractable mentor to generations of aviators as they work their way up the ranks. The school opted for the modern incarnation of their older DA40, the XLT, keeping with tradition using a Lycoming IO360.

“The expansion of our fleet allows us to accommodate the unprecedented growth we are experiencing," Chaminda Prelis, Chair of the Department of Aerospace at MTSU. "Additionally, a newer fleet gives our students a training experience in technologically advanced aircraft that will enhance their career prospects.”

“We’ve been incredibly honored to have partnered with MTSU over the past 20 years," said Trevor Mustard, Head of Sales and Marketing at Diamond Aircraft Canada. "The success of the program is evident in their continued growth and expansion. We look forward to continuing our collaborative efforts for many years to come.”
