New from Sonex: The Twoex

Two Fuselage-Design ‘Ideal For Married Couples’

ANN April 1 Special Edition

Sonex Aircraft is proud to announce their latest kit airplane design ... the Twoex. Utilizing proven engineering and design work from their already-popular Onex single-seat design, the Twoex brings a whole new look to homebuilt aircraft kits.

"Homebuilders at last have the opportunity to have their own F-82 Twin Mustang look-alike (others will prefer to call it their own little “White Knight Two,” referring to the new spaceship launcher from Scaled Composites and Burt Rutan)," said Sonex Aircraft Creattor John Monnett.

The Twoex uses many common parts from the Onex to build a twin-fuselage aircraft with one person riding in each side, the same arrangement that the P-82 Twin Mustang used. Builders will have the option of choosing a single-engine version with the engine mounted mid-wing between the fuselages or a twin-engine version with the engines mounted conventionally in front of the cockpits. The Twoex utilizes the folding wings of the Onex, and, like its smaller cousin, will fit into a smaller than normal hangar space.

Construction of the prototype is running ahead of schedule because of the high degree of commonality with the Onex and thus the ability to utilize many of the same parts.

Sonex Aircraft CEO Jeremy Monnett is especially excited about this particular design. “This is the perfect airplane for my dad and I to fly together, mainly because we won’t be.” Monnett also said that the design is ideal for married couples.

Prototype completion is expected in the next month and a first flight by AirVenture 2014 is all but assured.
