FAA Grants Cockpit Upgrade STC for CASA 212

Aviation Specialties Unlimited Gets Second Fixed-Wing STC

Aviation Specialties Unlimited,(ASU) has received an STC for the CASA 212 from the FAA.  The C212 is used for transportation and surveillance. With the new STC, ASU will modify the cockpit and cabin of a C212 for supplemental lighting night vision conformity for Evergreen Helicopters.

"A lot of planning and hard work went into obtaining this STC,” said ASU Founder and CEO Mike Atwood announcing the STC Tuesday. “This is our second fixed wing STC. Fixed wing operators are seeing the necessity of flying with night vision goggles on specific missions. We are thrilled that we can use our expertise to further night vision and safety across the aviation industry to include.”

ASU also has an STC on the C208 Caravan. In addition to the new fixed wing STC, ASU has an industry leading 14 STCs on rotorcraft. The company is currently working towards a STC on the Twin Otter also.

“We have worked with ASU for a number of years on numerous projects,” said Bruce Currier from Evergreen Helicopters. “They have proven their abilities. Their products and efforts have become increasingly sophisticated. We worked closely together to meet schedules and fulfill all the requirements for operational use of the C212. ASU is an excellent company to work with.”

Evergreen plans to modify at least two aircraft and possibly a third with the new STC.
