FlyORKA Could Change The Flight Training Game

Adriana Barrigan Debuts Her FlyORKA App to Promote Student Confidence

Through years of first-hand experience, Adriana Barrigan has seen how damaging holes in the flight training industry can be on student pilots… and she created an app to fix it. FlyORKA, which recently made its way onto Apple and Android platforms, is designed to make training more efficient and promote student confidence.

“Every year, capable students lose faith in themselves, not because they can’t fly, but because the system fails to teach them how to learn,” Adriana explained. “Flight training isn’t a straight line; it’s a loop that too many never complete.”

Adriana’s mission began in her time working as a flight test engineer, seeing how meticulously flights are planned, executed, and analyzed to ensure safety and performance. She realized the same disciplined process could transform flight instruction.

This became the foundation for FlyORKA: a so-called training companion that turns flight lessons into structured learning cycles. Instead of passively logging hours, students use the app to plan their objectives, record results, and analyze progress. The system rewards reflection and continuous improvement, helping students understand not just what to do, but why.

The app uses GPS to record 3D flight paths that can be played back with ground track, altitude, groundspeed, and realistic landmarks. This feature is not only helpful for debriefs with instructors, but also to let peers and aviators from around the world share their insights. The logs can also be shared with family and friends who, confused or not, will be excited to be part of the journey.

FlyORKA also targets a long-standing barrier in the flight training industry. The average student pilot far overpays for their license due to a lack of organization or feedback, forming an overall inefficient learning process. And this isn’t just an annoying side-effect -- it's a several-thousand-dollar hit.

“I built the FlyORKA app to bring both confidence-building and efficiency to the front and center in pilot training,” Adriana continued. “...We can end the cycle that keeps students paying without progressing, and turn flight hours into confidence that pays off.”
