Mesaba Airlines Wins FAA Diamond Award

Airline Achieves 100 Percent Participation Status for Third Time in Four Years

Mesaba Airlines has received the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) Diamond Award for 100 percent participation by Mesaba's aviation maintenance technicians in FAA-accepted training programs.

It was the fifth consecutive year that Mesaba has received the Diamond Award, which requires at least 25 percent participation from eligible mechanics. Three times in the past four years, Mesaba has achieved 100 percent participation status.

The Diamond Award recognizes training for aircraft maintenance professionals throughout the airline industry.

During 2004, more than 250 Mesaba mechanics participated in training programs, including aircraft systems training, regulatory training and FAA rules orientation.

"This award is a credit to our maintenance department and all of our mechanics and aircraft technicians," said John Spanjers, Mesaba Airlines president and chief operating officer. "Their commitment to training and their craft is further evidence of Mesaba's desire to be the best regional airline in the industry."
