Muscatine, IA Airport In Line For $3.7 Million Grant

Award Announced By Local Congressman

Muscatine Municipal Airport (KMUT) in Muscatine, IA will receive a $3.7 million grant from the DOT's AIP program.

The funding will be used to completely reconstruct the airport's 5,500 foot runway. The Muscatine Journal reports that, according to airport officials, the runway pavement has reached the end of its useful life.

The grant was announced by Congressman Dave Loebsack (D-IA-2). “Our local airports play a critical role in allowing our communities to grow, as well as fuel additional economic development in the region,” Loebsack said in a press release. “I am pleased that Muscatine Municipal Airport is receiving this competitive grant, which will allow the airport to grow safely and effectively.”

According to documents posted on the airport website, the total project is estimated to cost about $5.2 million.

The airport's 4,000 foot Runway 12/30 will remain open during the construction.
