GE Aviation Looks To Complete Mississippi Plant By Year's End

General Contractor To Be Selected In February

A new plant being built by GE Aviation in Ellisville, MS should be finished by the end of 2012, and fully operational in 2013, according to the company's media relations manager.

Rick Kennedy told the Laural Leader-Call that the preliminary work is nearly complete, and a general contractor for the site will be selected in "a couple of weeks." The plant, the second for GE Aviation in Mississippi, was announced last July by Governor Haley Barbour and DE Aviation CEO David Joyce. It is expected to cost some $56 million to complete.

Kennedy said that orders have increased significantly since the new plant was announced. He said that job applications would be accepted towards the end of the year. “We have seen continued growth,” he said. “We really need this Ellisville facility.
