FAA Certifies McCauley C780 Propeller for King Air B300

Fit For a King

McCauley Propeller Systems announced its C780 propeller had been fully-certified by the Federal Aviation Administration. Subject model is a four-swept-blade, 105-inch-diameter, aluminum propeller for Textron Aviation’s Beechcraft King Air B300 aircraft series.

The new high-performance C780 propeller offers King Air B300 operators additional payload, increased takeoff and climb performance, reduced cockpit and cabin noise, and greater time between overhauls.

McCauley Propeller Systems vice-president and general manager Heidi McNary stated: “The McCauley C780 is a new, lightweight, scimitar blade design propeller that enhances the already legendary King Air flying experience. We’re proud to continue to offer customers the quality and craftsmanship that aviators have come to expect from McCauley over the past 85-years.”

All told, the C780 propeller affords owners and operators of Beechcraft’s venerable King Air B300:

  • Propeller weight savings in excess of fifty-pounds.
  • Increased takeoff and climb performance.
  • Reduced cabin and cockpit noise.
  • Five-thousand-hours or 72-months Time Between Overhaul (TBO).
  • Textron Aviation’s four-thousand-hour or 36-month limited propeller warranty

Installation of McCauley’s C780 propeller may be performed at Textron Aviation Service Centers or authorized McCauley service facilities with no need for additional aircraft modifications.

Since the type’s 1964 debut, upwards of 7,700 Beechcraft King Air turboprops have been delivered to a worldwide customer base. Ubiquitous yet special, prosaic yet lovely, and beloved of generations of pilots—including your humble author—Beechcraft’s King Air family is the world’s best-selling line of business turboprop aircraft. Over 58-years and nearly forty models, the global King Air fleet has amassed north of 62-million flight hours, serving in private, commercial, civil, military, and special mission roles across the entirety of the Earth’s habitable continents.
