Pilot Of Hawker Hunter That Went Down At Shoreham Air Show Interviewed By Police

No Details Of The Interview Have Been Made Public

Sussex, England police have interviewed Andrew Hill, who was flying the Hawker Hunter that went down during the Shoreham Airshow August 22, resulting in the fatal injury of 11 people on the ground.

The U.K. newspaper The Mirror reports that a Sussex Police spokesman said that "Officers from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team have interviewed a 51-year-old man from Hertfordshire in connection with the Hunter jet that crashed on to the A27 at Shoreham in August, killing 11 people.

"The man voluntarily attended an appointment with detectives at a police station in Hertfordshire on Thursday and was interviewed under caution, but not arrested."

No details of the interview were released. “The interview of the pilot forms an integral part of the police investigation, but his fitness for this has not been confirmed,” said Det Chief Insp Paul Rymarz.

Hill was released from the hospital in September.

The U.K. Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has said that the airplane "appeared to be responding to the pilot's control inputs," and that an inspection of the plane conducted the day before the air show found that it was airworthy.
