BAE Systems Donates More Than $2 Million to Hurricane Relief

Company Matched Employee Donations

In an effort to support the victims of Hurricane Katrina, BAE Systems has matched the $1,167,669 in donations from employees across the company for a total contribution of $2,335,338 to the American Red Cross.

"The American Red Cross needs its partners like never before in this unprecedented disaster," said Marsha J. Evans, Red Cross President and CEO. "We are grateful to BAE Systems for coming forward with urgently needed financial help."

In addition to the monetary donation, BAE Systems employees across the country donated their time, sending much needed supplies to their co-workers at the Gautier and Hattiesburg, MS, facilities in the days following Hurricane Katrina landfall. Those donations also supported local officials in the area.

Upon learning the outcome of the efforts by employees, BAE Systems, Inc. president and chief executive officer Mark Ronald stated, "I am never surprised at the generosity of BAE Systems employees, but I am certainly proud of it."

Earlier this year in the aftermath of the Southwest Asia tsunami, BAE Systems employees conducted a similar matching campaign which resulted in a donation of nearly $520,000 to the American Red Cross.

BAE Systems is an international company engaged in the development, delivery, and support of advanced defense and aerospace systems in the air, on land, at sea, and in space. The company designs, manufactures, and supports military aircraft, combat vehicles, surface ships, submarines, radar, avionics, communications, electronics, and guided weapon systems.
