Loss Of Confidence Leads To Navy Training Commander's Ouster

Pentagon Cites "Personal Misconduct"

Rear Adm. George E. Mayer, Chief of Naval Air Training (USN), has relieved Capt. Chaunce Mitchell, commander, Training Air Wing (TW) 6 (below, at podium), of command due to a "loss of confidence in his ability to command."

Mitchell, who commanded TW-6 since March 7, 2001, was relieved April 23 by Mayer following non-judicial punishment proceedings for personal misconduct.

Capt. Lee Little, who was originally scheduled to take command May 13, assumed command of TW-6 April 23. Mitchell's future assignment has yet to be determined.
