Inventor Flies 'Iron Man' Suit Up To 85 Miles Per Hour

Sets Record For Fastest Speed In Such A Suit

A British inventor wearing a flying suit that is entirely 3-D printed has flow the suit at speeds up to 85.06 miles per hour (73.91 knots), setting a new world record for "fastest speed in a body-controlled, jet-engine-powered, wind-guided suit".

CNet reports that the flight took place over England's Brighton Pier.

The inventor is Richard Browning, the founder of Gravity Industries. His previous record in the first variant of the suit was 32.02 mph (27.82 knots), but this suit is completely different, according to Browning. He said the suit is "much smarter" which gives the wearer the ability to make small adjustments to the power during flight.

Browning predicts that he believes the suit can go as fast as 150-180 mph, but for now, he will work towards incremental increases in speed.

And what is it like to fly the suit? "It truly feels like that dream of flying you have sometimes in your sleep," Browning told the Guinness Book of World Records.
