Flexjet Orders 300 Phantom 3500 BizJets From Otto

Historic $5.9B Deal Makes Flexjet First Fleet Customer

Otto Aerospace announced that Flexjet will be its first fleet customer and its launch customer for the Phantom 3500 business jet, a windowless, ultra-efficient clean sheet aircraft that takes advantage of laminar-flow aerodynamics and all-carbon fiber composite that together cut fuel burn by 60 percent or more.

The agreement is for a firm 300 aircraft with additional options, and with a value of $5.9 billion, is one of the largest aircraft orders with an OEM in business aviation history. The aircraft will see its first flight in 2027 and deliveries are set to begin in 2030.

Kenn Ricci, Chairman of Flexjet said, “For 30 years, Flexjet has led through innovation opposed to imitation, introducing tomorrow’s standards, not reacting to yesterday’s expectations. The Phantom 3500 exemplifies that approach perfectly, marking a bold step into a future where an aircraft’s efficiency and sustainability stand alongside speed, comfort, and range as defining standards. This collaboration with Otto Aerospace further affirms our leadership role in delivering to fractional aircraft Owners the future of luxury private aviation.”

The Phantom 3500 has teardrop-shaped fuselage and its lack of conventional windows makes it unique among passenger-carrying aircraft. Rather than windows, which Otto says increase drag and weight, the nine-seat, 6’5” interior is lined with digital screens that display real-time panoramic views of the outside as captured by high-resolution cameras.

Paul Touw, CEO of Otto Aerospace, said the effect gives passengers an immersive, almost surreal experience and perspective of the world outside the aircraft.

Flexjet operates a global fleet in private aviation that offers fractional ownership and leasing, all supported by a fully integrated maintenance and product support system. This deal, in addition to the aircraft acquisitions, also allow Flexjet’s in-house maintenance operation to become an Otto authorized service center.

Touw explained, “Flexjet’s decision to build their fleet around the Phantom 3500 speaks volumes about where aviation is headed. As one of the largest business jet orders in private aviation history, this marks a turning point in the industry’s move toward sustainable and efficient air travel.

“The Phantom 3500 will redefine private aviation, providing Flexjet with a fleet that dramatically reduces costs while expanding operational capabilities and enhancing the customer flying experience.”
