WACO Classic Aircraft Rolls Out Barnstormer Edition

Company Says The Airplane Is Designed For The "Biplane Ride" Market

It's another fresh take on a blast from the past. WACO Classic Aircraft has introduced a "Barnstormer Edition" of its WACO YMF-5C airplane.

The Barnstormer is powered by a simple and reliable dual magneto R755 B2 (275 HP) engine featuring a 1400 hour TBO. Inside, there is a vinyl interior and rubber floor covering, basic VFR instrumentation including Garmin avionics and traditional analog engine instrumentation. WACO Classic says the airplane has simple, low maintenance and modern systems, and is FAA Certified for Commercial Activities. It is optimized for Commercial Ride operations with a hold-open device for the passenger door. WACO Classic says for those customers looking for a more basic aircraft, the lower price point of the YMF-5C will appeal to the value minded customer.

The YMF-5D model features a 300 HP Jacobs radial engine with fuel injection capability turning an MT Wood-composite prop. The "D" model also has JPI EDM 930 engine instrumentation system, high capacity batteries, and IFR capability as standard equipment, along with LED lighting for landing, taxi, and rotating beacon. Also available are Garmin advanced IFR instrumentation, ground service plug, wheel pants and spats, multi-color premium paint and non-standard designs. The front cockpit offers flight controls and brakes, and both the pilot and passenger are treated to a leather seat and cockpit heat.

ANN's Jim Campbell recently flew the YMF-5D, and his report is available on Aero-TV.
