BAE Systems Bags Two FAA Support Contracts

Deal Exceedes $100 Million

BAE Systems has been awarded two contracts totaling $107 million by the FAA to provide a variety of support services for the FAA's acquisition programs in the surveillance systems area. BAE Systems received a $67 million contract to provide systems engineering and implementation support services and a $40 million contract to provide management and financial support services to the agency.

Both five-year contracts have performance periods that will last through the end of 2008. The contracting agency, the FAA William J. Hughes Technical Center in Atlantic City, N.J., awarded the contracts under its Multiple Area Support Service, Engineering Support Service Area contract vehicle.

BAE Systems Technology Solutions will continue to provide services to the FAA similar to those it has provided for more than 10 years under previous contracts. It will support the surveillance program offices in their management of air traffic control radar systems from inception through decommissioning and replacement.

Under the systems engineering and implementation support services contract, BAE Systems will provide technical, engineering, analytical and planning support throughout the life cycle of both terminal and en-route primary and secondary radars. Services will begin during concept analysis and continue through system development, production, implementation and operational in-service phases.

Under the management and financial support services contract, BAE Systems will provide or support investment analysis, hardware and software development, acquisition, implementation and in-service activities. In particular, BAE Systems will furnish program management and financial management functions during the life cycle of both terminal and en-route primary and secondary radars.

The surveillance systems programs are managed by the Terminal Business Unit, the initial operating unit of the FAA's new Air Traffic Organization. BAE Systems has been a provider of services in this area since 1993.

"The awards of these contracts illustrates our commitment to the FAA and their confidence in BAE Systems to provide high quality support services for the management of radar systems throughout the entire life cycle," said Bob Murphy, president, BAE Systems Technology Solutions Sector.
