Hartzell Hits AirVenture with New Options for Diamond, Kodiak, and Top Prop

Polaris, Raptor, and more Grace the Field with More Performance for Less Weight

Hartzell added a handful of propellers to its ever-expanding collection of STCs, offering improved performance for the Diamond DA-40 NG, the Daher Kodiak, and Top Prop customers.

The Diamond DA-40 will see the addition of the Polaris prop, a 3-blade, carbon fiber, bantamweight prop that adds 3 knots to cruise speed. The Polaris sports a 6-year, 2,400-hour warranty, and will be offered as an option in early Fall 2023.

Kodiak’s 100 has already been seeing the benefits of their own brand new Hartzell prop after its unveiling at Sun ‘n Fun 2023. The 5-blade carbon fiber propeller offers a 200 rpm reduction in cruise, with no loss in climb or cruise performance. On top of that, it’s 6 decibels quieter, with 5% shorter takeoff distances thanks to its 13-lb weight savings.

The last aircraft to receive the Hartzell blessing was the Van’s RV Series, seeing the addition of a carbon blended airfoil to its lineup of modifications. Like any Van’s installation, specifics apply. In this instance, the 2-blade Raptor series composite prop shaves 20 lbs off the front end. The Raptor has been tested on stock 390 and 360 engines, and can be had in 74 and 72-inch diameters. To sweeten the deal, Hartzell is offering a $500 discount through the end of 2023, with a further cost cut up to $1,500 for the appropriate Lycoming/Hartzell bundle.
