Michael Loomis To Mediate Aviation Cases In Indiana

Appointed To Indiana Mediator Registry

Attorney J. Michael Loomis, past president of the NTSB Bar Association, has been placed on the Indiana Mediator Registry, a list of court approved mediators. His plans include providing mediation in aviation cases. “I think my familiarity with aviation, and aviation law, provides me with a unique skill set to provide mediation in aviation cases and to help the parties reach a voluntary resolution of their differences in a cost-effective manner,” said Loomis.

Loomis operates a general law practice, focusing on business law, civil litigation, and aviation law. Loomis represented the group (S.A.F.E.) that saved Fort Wayne’s Smith Field Airport (SMD) from closing in 2003. In his aviation law practice, Loomis handles pilot enforcement actions, safety medical cases, aircraft leases and acquisitions, aircraft accidents, and aviation insurance matters.

Loomis is a 1978 graduate of Indiana University in Bloomington, and a 1981 graduate of the University of Dayton School of Law. He soloed in 1976 and obtained his Pilot’s license in 1978 shortly after graduating from college. “I have two loves, aviation and law, and I had a difficult choice when I was a young man, but I had always dreamed that I could combine them one day,” Loomis mused. “I think I’ve finally achieved that dream.”
