Began Working With Airport In Early 1990s

The Salina Airport Authority has named Kenny Bieker as Manager of Facilities to manage existing facilities and development projects. He begins June 23.

Bieker joins the Salina Airport Authority staff after working on Salina Municipal Airport and Airport Industrial Center projects as a construction manager for a number of years with BWR Corporation. Bieker began working on Airport Authority projects in the early 1990s.

SAA adds Bieker has worked with Airport Authority staff for years and is very familiar with the Salina Municipal Airport and Airport Industrial Center. He assisted in the design and construction of several airport projects, including runways, taxiways and aircraft parking aprons. Bieker's past experience also includes the 1999 reconstruction of over SIX miles of airport industrial center streets.

"We are pleased to have someone of Kenny Bieker's experience and capabilities to lead our future airfield and industrial center construction. In addition, Kenny will manage day-to-day operation of existing facilities," said Executive Director Tim Rogers, A.A.E. "His familiarity with the Salina Airport and Airport Industrial Center is a significant asset."

In Bieker's new position, he will be responsible for managing nearly 900,000 sq. ft. of existing manufacturing, warehouse, hangar and office space at the Salina Municipal Airport and Airport Industrial Center. His staff will include one facilities maintenance team leader and five maintenance technicians.

Bieker's near-term challenges will include new building construction that could total over 1 million square feet and an estimated $11 million in airfield construction over the next five years.

Bieker has 30 years of experience as an Engineering Technician with 21 of those years involving airports. He has served in the capacities of drafter, detailer, surveyor, and construction observer.
