Precise Flight's HID Lighting Now Installed On Mooneys

I See The Light!

Bend, OR-based Precise Flight, Inc. announced last week at AOPA Expo that Mooney Airplane Company is among a growing list of OEM's to install its PreciseLite high intensity discharge (HID) lighting. After testing the units and finding improvement over the aircraft's existing lights, Mooney has decided to fit its current production aircraft with Precise Flight's high intensity discharge lighting, the PreciseLite.

"These lights, while still fitting into the same glass PAR 36 holder, were designed to fit directly into Mooney aircraft, and provide the benefit of increasing not only the pilot view on approach at night, but also increasing the visibility anytime the pilot chooses," explains Scott Philiben, Vice President of Precise Flight.

The optional taxi lamp is designed with prismatic surfaces in the reflector, and the borosilicate clear glass lens is designed to distribute light over a wide pattern and improve luminous output by 20% over a typical taxi light fluted lens. "Mooney appreciates the enhanced efficiency and output these configurations will provide," Philiben said.

The 28 volt lamps require only an amp and a half in normal steady-state operation.

"Mooney has maintained a successful relationship with Precise Flight for decades, first founded upon the Precise Flight SpeedBrake system," said Dave Copeland, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Mooney. "As Precise Flight has upheld its reputation as a leading supplier of lighting components for the business and commercial aviation community for over 20 years, we are pleased that Precise Flight's capabilities in aviation lighting can provide us an integrated solution that will improve the conspicuity and enhance the overall quality of current production Mooney aircraft."

Brad LeHuquet, Precise Flight's President, said "Precise Flight is pleased to uphold its long-standing relationship with Mooney, and that their continued trust in Precise Flight's capabilities is such that they look to us first to provide them an industry standard such as our PreciseLite HID." He continues, "Precise Flight has worked hard, and we've come a long way over the past 27 years. I am proud we will be further demonstrating our capabilities in aviation lighting at AOPA this year."

After introducing the PreciseLite in 2005, Precise Flight's line of lighting solutions, including LED and HID interior, recognition and navigation lighting, continues to reflect Precise Flight's extensive capabilities in aviation lighting, and also in providing integrated solutions to the industry's top aircraft manufacturers.
