FreeFlight Systems Introduces FTG-410 Audio Alerting Device

Safety Feature Used In Conjunction With Radar Altimeters And Other Avionics

FreeFlight Systems has introduce the FTG-410 Tone Generator, an audio alerting enhancement for radar altimeters and other avionics systems that calls flight crew attention to critical altitudes and other aircraft conditions when operating in hazardous environments.

The FTG-410 gives pilots important audio alerts when operating at low altitude, at nighttime, over water or rough terrain when there are few visual cues to the surface, landscape or flight path. It is ideal for installation with FreeFlight Systems popular RA-4000 and RA-4500 and is compatible with other altimeters and avionic systems. The FTG-410 weighs just 2.9 ounces in a compact 1 x 2.25 x 4 inch housing.

The two-channel system provides maximum value, flexibility in installation and compatibility with existing avionics and audio systems. “The FTG-410 is an important audio alerting enhancement for most radar altimeter and other avionics systems,” said Tim Taylor, President and CEO of FreeFlight Systems. “It delivers high performance in a lightweight package, is easy to install and is available at a very compelling price.”

FreeFlight Systems has shipped more than 2,200 radar altimeter systems, many of which are still in active service over decades of regular use. The RA-4000 and RA- 4500 provide precise AGL information from 2,500 feet down to ground level. The RA-4000 offers a standard RS-422 interface for simple installation while the RA- 4500 comes with an ARINC 429 output for easy integration with electronic flight information systems (EFIS) and flight director systems. Both systems are available with the RAD-40 panel-mounted display that provides AGL information to the pilot. When the pilot-selected altitudes are reached, a DH LED is illuminated and a tone is sounded over the audio system via the FTG-410. An optional night vision goggle (NVG) compatible display is available.

The FTG-410 meets DO-160G and DO-178B Level D standards. It is priced at $495 when purchased with a FreeFlight Systems radar altimeter or $995 when purchased separately.
