Helicopter Used In Canadian Prison Break

Three With Ties To Organized Crime Plucked From Prison Saturday Night

For the second time in as many years, a helicopter was used to facilitate a prison break in Quebec, Canada.

The most recent incident occurred Saturday night, when three inmates with ties to organized crime were plucked from the Orsainville Detention Center near Quebec City. The green helicopter reportedly touched down momentarily in one of the prison courtyards, and then lifted off to the west.

The prisoners, identified as Yves Denis, 35, Denis Lefebvre, 53, and Serge Pomerleau, 49, were awaiting trial at the detention center, according to a report on CTV New Channel. A massive manhunt is said to be underway. All three are considered to be extremely dangerous.

A similar incident occurred about 13 months ago when two inmates escaped by helicopter from a prison in St. Jerome in Quebec. Those prisoners were re-captured within hours of their escape.
