AD: Airbus SAS Airplanes

AD NUMBER: 2019-26-01

PRODUCT: Certain Airbus SAS Model A350-941 and -1041 airplanes.

ACTION: Final rule

SUMMARY: This AD was prompted by reports of sealant bead damage caused by rotation of the attachment fitting bearing assembly of a trimmable horizontal stabilizer (THS).

This AD requires repetitive detailed inspections, and applicable corrective action(s) if necessary, as specified in a European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) AD, which is incorporated by reference.

In addition, as specified in the EASA AD, this AD provides an optional modification that would terminate the inspections.

DATES: This AD is effective February 28, 2020.

COST: The FAA estimates that this AD affects 11 airplanes of U.S. registry. Operators may incur the following costs in order to comply with this AD:

  • Required Actions: 30 work-hours × $85 per hour = $2,550 per aircraft.
  • On Condition Costs: 34 work-hours × $85 per hour = $2,890 per aircraft.
