Malaysia Airlines A330 Vandalized... Again

Maintenance crews find hydraulic fluid all over instrument panel

When mechanics entered the cockpit of an Malaysia Airlines Airbus 330 on Friday prior to a flight from Kuala Lumpuir International Airport to Osaka, Japan, they found the results of yet another case of vandalism to the airline's aircraft -- an instrument panel covered in hydraulic fluid.

This is the fourth time that one of the airline's aircraft has been grounded "under unusual circumstances" in the past two years, according to The Star daily. The three previous cases of vandalism targetted aircraft wiring.

The country's police have investigated the cases, questioning dozen of airline and airport employees since October 2003. However, the investigation has yielded no suspects as of yet. In addition, the vandals appear to be getting cocky -- the damaged A330 was parked just over 30 feet from a security post at the airport. The aircraft was grounded, and the pax departed on another jet 35 minutes later.
