Airlines For America Commends Confirmation Of Anthony Foxx

Calio Says Former Charlotte Mayor Understands The Importance Of Air Travel To The Economy

Airlines for America (A4A) commended the U.S. Senate’s confirmation of Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx to serve as the next Secretary of Transportation following the body's unanimous vote Thursday.

"As an elected leader of a hub market, Mayor Foxx understands how critical air travel is to connecting communities and business globally, and we look forward to working with him to ensure the U.S. airline industry can compete globally and be a growing driver of the economy and jobs,” said A4A President and CEO Nicholas E. Calio (pictured). “We congratulate Mayor Foxx on his confirmation, and share his commitment to building on the safety and efficiency of the National Airspace System – including the implementation of NextGen-related policies and procedures that leverage the significant investments carriers have already made to benefit their customers now.”

A4A also commended outgoing Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood for his years of service. “We thank Secretary LaHood for his years of service on behalf of travelers and his shared commitment to ensure the safety of air travel,” Calio said.
