New Conversion Kit Package For VW Engines
Sonex Aircraft, LLC announced Wednesday the latest evolution in
the AeroConversions product line this week with the introduction of
the AeroVee 2.1 Engine Kit.

The AeroVee 2.1 is a complete VW Conversion Engine Kit Package,
by AeroConversions, a product line of Sonex Aircraft, LLC. The
AeroVee 2.1 package is a 2180 cc, 80 hp aircraft engine that can be
run on 100LL or auto fuel. The complete package weighs 161 lbs
complete, and represents over 35 years of experience in pioneering
and innovating VW engine conversions. All of the supplied
components are brand-new, zero-time parts including conversion
parts that meet high quality standards, machined out of solid
billet, providing for the strongest and most consistent conversion
components ever produced.
AeroVee 2.1 is now the standard AeroVee engine kit, replacing
the AeroVee 2.0.
Due to the increasing volume of AeroVee engine sales, Sonex and
AeroConversions has been able to incorporate new features that
enhance the already robust AeroVee design. The new AeroVee 2.1
features a purpose-built custom crankshaft that has a larger
diameter and longer prop hub interface.
This new design also eliminates the distributor drive gear and
the racer spacer, making for an easier assembly. AeroVee 2.1
continues to use standard bearings, eliminating the need for custom
bearings and allowing for easy replacement at overhaul time. All
external steel conversion components are also now zinc plated for
improved aesthetics and additional corrosion resistance.

All these enhanced features ship as standard equipment on all
new AeroVee 2.1 Engine Kits, at the same price of $6,495.
"Sonex Aircraft, LLC and its experienced team of designers are
dedicated to continual improvement and enhancement of our wide
range of light, efficient, and proven aircraft and engine
products," said Sonex Aircraft, LLC CEO Jeremy Monnett. "The
AeroVee Engine Kit has evolved into the most robust, simple, and
economical conversion engine available at any price. We expect it
will continue its rapid growth in popularity by offering the Best
Performance Per Dollar in the market today for a wide range of
sport aircraft requiring an 80 hp engine at a fraction of the
purchase and operating costs of its competition."
The AeroVee comes as a complete kit that you can assemble
yourself in approximately 12 hours, with the aid of an AeroVee
Assembly Manual and an instructional DVD. The AeroVee Assembly DVD
is available for purchase separate from the engine kit to aid
customers in their engine purchase decision. A complete
AeroVee/Sonex Installation Guide is provided, along with free
telephone and email technical support. An AeroVee engine on-line
discussion group is also available.
The AeroVee engine kit also includes the AeroConversions
AeroCarb. Utilizing what hydraulic and pneumatic engineers call the
"perfect flow passage," the AeroCarb achieves outstanding
performance and versatility. AeroCarb's body parts are precision
machined from solid 6061 aluminum billets.

The AeroCarb has only two moving parts, with no float bowls or
secondary jets to complicate things. A fine-adjustment metering
needle provides clean burning, smooth running, outstanding
response, and fuel economy. Spigot or flange mounts easily adapt to
popular aircraft and auto conversion engines. Mounts for the
standard "push-pull" cable assemblies are built in, and the
AeroCarb can also accept throttles using pull-type actuation, such
as the AeroConversions Throttle Quadrants.
AeroCarbs have been successfully installed in everything from
Continentals and Lycomings to Chevy and Suzuki aircraft engine
conversions.
