Certified: Embraer Legacy 650 Executive Jet

FAA Gives Approval To Newest Brazilian Bizjet

The FAA has certified Embraer's Legacy 650 large executive jet, following previous certifications from Brazil's ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).

"Embraer's Executive Jets portfolio is one of the most comprehensive in the industry," said Luis Carlos Affonso, Embraer Executive Vice President, Executive Jets. "This important approval of our new long-range large cabin Legacy 650 executive jet opens the way for the Company to better serve not only the U.S market, but also several other countries that require FAA certification."

The Legacy 650 is an extended-range derivative of the successful Legacy 600 jet, which has logged nearly 200 deliveries worldwide. Embraer said in a news release announcing the certification that the new jet has achieved all of its performance targets, particularly the maximum range of 3,900 nautical miles with four passengers and NBAA IFR reserves included, without compromising either payload capacity or operational costs.

The Legacy 650 and the Legacy 600 shares important qualities with the ERJ 145 regional jet platform. Embraer says these modern executive jets are not only less expensive to operate than aircraft with similar cabin sizes, but actually cost the same as aircraft with only two cabin zones. Deliveries of the Legacy 650 began in November 2010, with seven already in operation.
