Gulfstream Aerospace is beefing up its service operation overseas with two new representatives to its international field service organization. Kannan Kumar will cover Gulfstream customers in India, while Eduardo “Eddie” Hernandez will cover the Mexico and Central America region.

A 35-year aviation-industry veteran, Kumar began his corporate aviation career in 1985 as a certification engineer servicing Gulfstream aircraft. Since then, he has worked with a variety of executive operators as a chief and director of maintenance involved in planning, maintenance, budget execution, quality control, technical-records maintenance and certification. He has nearly 25 years of experience on Gulfstream aircraft, including the Gulfstream GV, GIV, GIII and GII. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from the University of Madras in India, and holds an Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license from the FAA as well as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) licenses from the European Aviation Safety Administration (EASA), the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) of the United Arab Emirates and the Director of General Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India. Kumar is based in Chennai, India, and will handle field service support countrywide.

Hernandez has more than 21 years of maintenance experience with military aircraft and 12 years of experience with corporate aircraft. He started his career at Gulfstream in 1997 as an A&P mechanic in Savannah before transferring to Dallas, where he worked in final-phase completions. Since then, he has worked as a supervisor at General Dynamics Aviation Services in Westfield, Mass., and as a technical operations specialist with the large-cabin mechanical systems group at Gulfstream Savannah.

Hernandez, who has an A&P license from the FAA, has completed initial maintenance training for all mid- and large-cabin Gulfstream aircraft. He is located in Toluca, Mexico, and will provide support in Mexico and Central America.

The addition of Kumar and Hernandez brings the total number of international Gulfstream field service representatives to 15. The company also has 28 field service representatives based in the United States.
