HeliExpo '05: Air Evac Lifeteam Picks Skytrac Iridium Satellite Systems

To Be Used For Flight-Following And Satcom Needs

SkyTrac Systems (STS) has announced an agreement with Air Evac Lifeteam to equip its medevac helicopter fleet with the Iridium-based SkyTrac flight-following satcom system.

"The use of the SkyTrac system enhances our abilities to monitor our flights and ensure the safety of both our crews and the patients we fly," said Air Evac Lifeteam President and CEO Colin Collins. "It gives our communicators another tool to use if our audio communications systems fail. The SkyTrac team has been very keen to find solutions to our specific problems and we look forward to working with them on future projects."

Deliveries and installation started in late 2004 and will continue into 2005.

Kathleen Wallace, President and CEO of SkyTrac Systems, said, "We are pleased to provide Air Evac Lifeteam with truly leading edge flight-following and satcom technology. We have worked closely with the Air Evac team to ensure on time, on budget product and service delivery in a manner that not only meets their needs but includes additional value-added features."

"Iridium enables ideal solutions for flight tracking and voice and data communications for helicopter fleets around the world," said Don Thoma, executive vice president for Iridium Satellite. Thoma added, "SkyTrac provides a cost-effective solution for flight-following and asset tracking using Iridium's short burst data service."
