Avidyne Releases Learjet 55C LPV Upgrade

Dual Atlas FMS Adds GPS Coupling to Existing EFIS Equipment

Avidyne has announced a flight deck upgrade for the LearJet 55C, allowing owners and operators to upgrade their long-lived aircraft with modern capabilities and safety accouterments.

The Dual Avidyne Atlas Flight Management System Retrofit Upgrade provides fully-coupled GPS approach capability, including LPV, LP, LNAV, and VNAV approaches. Even better, the upgrade does not require a full replacement of the legacy EFIS86-L system, allowing operators to retain their existing EFIS displays. The Dual Atlas FMS system adds enroute and approach operations, synthetic vision, charts, and airport diagrams without a complete overhaul of flight deck screens.

“We are really excited to offer the dual Atlas FMS configuration on the LearJet 55C,” said John Talmadge, Avidyne’s vice president of worldwide sales. “Atlas gives new life to these highly-capable airframes without the high cost of a full flight deck replacement, and giving operators a whole host of new capabilities—and most importantly opening up hundreds of airports and runway ends with GPS-based LPV Approaches.”

“Avidyne would like to extend appreciation to Terry Robertson and the team of Florida Jet Center, the area’s LearJet experts located at Ft. Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE), for all the support in helping bring this project to a successful close," said Bill Thompson, Avidyne’s director of business aviation. “Part of this upgrade included reconfiguring the center pedestal making a more pilot-friendly interface by bringing EFIS mode select controls and FMS units forward.

“With more of these modifications in the pipeline, we at Avidyne are looking forward to the many exciting opportunities in the business aviation market. Look for more announcements in the near future,” Thompson added.
