WingX Pro7 Releases Version 8.6.5

Several New Features Included In Latest Update

WingX Pro7 Version 8.6.5 is now available on the Apple App Store. The company says it has added some new capabilities including TFR Events (aka Stadium TFRs) - we even tell you who is playing, the new FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS) which replaces the older FAA Practical Test Standards (PTS), and WingX Pro7 can now update Stratux firmware wirelessly with just a couple of taps.

With all the sporting events that are held throughout the US, it can sometimes be tricky to come up with a flight plan or route that will not interfere with these events and find yourself flying in a TFR. WingX Pro7 displays red rings on the moving map to indicate a Stadium TFR. Tapping on the TFR provides detailed TFR information - it even shows who is playing in the NFL or MLB game.

WingX Pro7 has had airport geo-referencing for many years (without upgrading to a 'Pro' subscription), but sometimes you need more than that. Let's say you want to go to a specific FBO at the airport. Now with WingX Pro7 you can select a specific business on the airport and WingX Pro7 will drop a pin on the business's exact location right on the Airport Diagram. Tap on the pin and WingX Pro7 displays the business phone number, website, physical address, hours of operation, facilities, amenities, and even rental car information. And on your iPhone, tap on the phone number and WingX Pro7 will automatically call the business.

One of the things that make WingX Pro7 really stand out is our extensive hardware compatibility list. Unlike most Electronic Flight Bags (EFBs), we work with almost every ADS-B device out there. One option for pilots is the new Stratux ADS-B In receiver. This is a great choice for pilots who are looking for a reliable and inexpensive device while still getting all the great features other ADS-B receivers offer. The Stratux is easily and quickly assembled from off-the-shelf hardware. This means you will start off from a Raspberry Pi then have a vast variety of parts you can choose from to build a system that fits your preference.

With WingX Pro7 Version 8.6.5, you can wirelessly and easily update the Stratux firmware with just a couple of taps.  You can now keep your Stratux firmware up-to-date without removing the card, installing special software etc.  WingX Pro7 will even tell you when there is a new firmware update available.  This does not work with FlightBox because its firmware is not compatible with the Stratux firmware.

To update the Stratux firmware, go to the Moving Map, tap on the down arrow (top-right), select External Hardware, then Stratux and tap on the firmware info.
