9 Jumps at 90 to Fund Skydiving Museum

Ten years ago, history maker Pat Moorehead completed a record 81 jumps on his 80th birthday to raise funds for the International Skydiving Museum & Hall of Fame (ISMHF), bringing in $20,000 with his efforts.

Now, for his 90th birthday, he will jump again. 

For that 2011 attempt, Pat had the support of 50 riggers, cameramen, a pilot, and medical personnel on standby. A constant stream of parachute packing and aircraft prep took place over the course of 6 ½ hours, until he made his 81st jump with a celebratory American flag. Observers were impressed at his stamina throughout the day. "He had a lot of energy when he finished – there were no mishaps. It was perfect," said Nancy Gruttman-Tyler, a retired skydiver who was present for the occasion.

Not content to rest, he has announced a sequel to his accomplishment, set to complete 9 jumps on his 90th, one for each decade of a life well lived. Pat is a long time supporter of the Museum, being a part of the International Skydiving Hall of Fame Class of 2016, as well as an Ambassador and Trustees Award winner.

A long time performer and actor, he has been a part of numerous media projects as well as the California Aerial Circus Parachute Team. He has served on the United States Parachute Association’s board of directors and received their Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Supporters of the museum can support his work by making their own 9-way formation in the discipline of their choosing, or cheer him along from the ground at Skydive Perris. T-shirts are available for sale celebrating “Team 90”, as well as donations through the museum site in Pat’s honor. A portion of funds from all activities will go towards continuing their mission in preserving the legacy of skydiving for generations to come. 

The attempt is scheduled for November 20, 2021 at Skydive Perris, in Perris, California.
