New World Record Set By U.S. Army Golden Knights

Beat Their Own Record For An 8-Way Jump At World Air Games In Dubai

The U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute team has beaten its own world record in 8-way during the World Air Games in Dubai.

Skydive magazine reports that the team had set the record in at the U.S. Nationals in October.

Teams are scored on how many formations are completed and coordinated movements, grips, and "keys." Skydivers must complete a formation, break it, and then make a new formation and re-grip.

The team's previous record for an 8-way was 32 points, and they scored a 33 at Dubai. The magazine reports that it was "close to a 34."

The Golden Knights built a total of 33 formations in 50 seconds of freefall to set the record, according to the article. Russia was the next nearest team at 26 points.
