Avanti Unmanned Systems Announces New Division

Will Provide Drone Security And Mitigation Planning Services

Avanti Unmanned Systems, a subsidiary of Blue Sky Innovations Group, has formed a new division that will provide drone security and mitigation solutions to a wide array of private and public service related customers.

“As you are well aware there have been a number of high-profile instances recently where illegal drone operations have resulted in the endangerment of the public,” said Chris Goodman, president of Avanti Unmanned Systems. “At the same time, there has been an alarming increase in the use of small drones to fly contraband items into prisons and correctional institutions.”

“The rapid increases in illegal and unauthorized drone/UAV operations are accelerating the need for both civil and governmental agencies to develop and implement effective anti-drone/counter UAV solutions to protect the safety of people, property and airspace,” he said. “The problem is getting bigger every day.”

Goodman explained that Avanti Unmanned Systems’ experience in the many facets of UAS operations and of emerging drone mitigation and threat management technologies gives the company a leg-up in this growing segment of the market. And that the company’s team can combine its expertise to deliver an array of technical solutions including:

  • Airport Safety & Security: Safety is the number one priority for large and small airports globally. Emerging threats from accidental or malicious UAV operations threaten the lives of passengers, crew and airport staff as well as the safety of aircraft and airport infrastructure.
  • Prisons and Correctional Institutions: Drones are increasingly being used to illegally smuggle drugs, weapons and other contraband into prisons around the world.
  • Critical Public Areas and Assets: The growing risks to public safety and national security due to malicious targeting of critical assets pose local, regional and national threats, which must be mitigated.
  • Public Safety: The increasing quantity and operating activity of UAVs is also increasing the risks for local and national law enforcement and the need to protect large public gatherings such as: Sporting events, marathons, parades, concerts and other public events such as 4th of July gatherings or Christmas festivals.
  • Emergency Response: From California wildfires to active shooter situations, ignorant or intentional drone operations are hindering first responders and emergency operations.
  • Corporate Security: Growing sophistication in areas of corporate espionage as well as executive security and privacy are threatening companies globally (examples include: trade secrets, brand reputation or sensitive merger or acquisition discussions).

“Like the emerging threats posed by drones and UAS’ there is no one solution to developing an effective security solution,” Goodman said. “It’s our job to look at all available and emerging mitigation technologies to put together a program that will cost-effectively provide the greatest level of safety and maximum risk reduction.”
