Partnership Announced at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh
Honeywell and GoAERO announced in a joint press conference that Honeywell has become a strategic partner and sponsor of the GoAERO Prize, a worldwide competition to stimulate the development of an uncrewed Emergency Response Flyer to execute critical emergency medical response, disaster rescue, and other crisis missions.

Making the announcement were Bob Buddecke, Honeywell’s President of Electronic Solutions, and GoAERO’s CEO Gwen Lighter. Honeywell joins NASA, Boeing, RTX, and other aerospace companies in assisting GoAERO carry out its mission. Honeywell will also serve as a judge in the competition as well as provide lectures, training, mentorship, and software for competing teams through the three-year duration of the global competition.
The GoAERO Prize competition challenges innovators to develop a versatile, portable, autonomous platform to rescue people or bring first responders or emergency supplies to the scene of medical or other emergency situations.

Mr. Buddecke, speaking about Honeywell’s commitment to the project said, “We’re thrilled to join the GoAERO mission to spur innovation in the aviation and emergency response industry – something that is urgently needed across the world. Our partnership with GoAERO not only supports our commitment to the future of aviation, but it also aligns with our focus on leveraging Advanced Air Mobility for the public good and finding innovative solutions to the industry’s most challenging problems.”
Ms. Lighter explained, “Since 2019, the U.S. has averaged 22 billion-dollar disasters per year. With FEMA’s disaster workforce only operating at approximately 65% capacity, GoAERO is addressing this disparity by creating emergency response technologies that save lives. GoAERO is always looking to collaborate with companies and organizations who share our vision of advancing aviation technology for the public good. Honeywell is a leading innovator in the aerospace sector, and we are excited to have them join us as a GoAERO partner so that competing teams can benefit from their expertise and support.”
