Viking Air Appoints Dominique Spragg VP Of Manufacturing

Will Oversee Twin Otter Series 400 Production Launch

Aero-News learned Tuesday Viking Air Limited has appointed Dominique Spragg vice-president of manufacturing, reporting to the president. In this newly-created position, Spragg will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of Viking's manufacturing, including sourcing, production, scheduling and process engineering.

Company officials tell ANN Spragg will also oversee operations related to the Twin Otter Series 400 production program, whose launch was announced earlier this month.

Spragg was most recently president of consulting firm Innovia Solutions where he led projects focused on procurement, supply chain and marketing for companies in the aerospace, electronics, oil and gas, marine systems and engineering product industries. Prior, he worked as a director of service center operations for Pratt and Whitney Canada, covering the manufacture and support of PT6 and PW100 Series engines, and managing a workforce of more than 650 people. There he rose to the position of director, supply chain logistics. Spragg also spent more than three years at Hawker Siddeley Canada's Orenda Engine division in a number of management positions.

"Spragg is highly qualified to lead this key area of responsibility given his exceptional leadership skills demonstrated over the course of career in aviation that spans 20 years," says David Curtis, president and CEO of Viking. "We are pleased to add to our team a professional who has such a distinguished record in leading organizations through continuous improvement and innovation in manufacturing, supply management and product market entry."

Spragg holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering, a Master of Science in Rotorcraft Studies, both from University of Toronto, and an Executive MBA from Queen's University at Kingston, Ontario.

Viking owns the Type Certificates for the de Havilland Canada  DHC-1 Chipmunk, DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-2T Turbo Beaver, DHC-3 Otter,  DHC-4, Caribou, DHC-5 Buffalo, DHC-6 Twin Otter and DHC-7 DASH 7 and has been providing all product support functions for the fleet since May 2005.
