Source: Linda Goodrich, regional vice president for flight standards with the FAA inspectors union, commenting on the effects of reduced manpower and funding to the agency, to the Detroit Free Press. The FAA failed to comply with their own mandated safety inspection program in 2003, missing approximately one-in-four (938) scheduled inspections of the five major domestic carriers that year.
