ALPA Pilot Elected Head Of Int’l Pilot Federation

Delta Air Lines Captain Voted To Lead IFALPA

The Air Line Pilots Association, Int’l (ALPA) announced that Delta Air Lines Capt. Ron Hay was elected President of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) at its annual conference. New regional and committee officers were elected and IFALPA reiterated its commitment to opposing reduced crew operations or RCO.

IFALPA called on governments, decision-makers, regulators, airline management, and all pilot associations to present a united front to safeguard the highest standards of safety.

Capt. Jason Ambrosi, President of ALPA, congratulated Capt. Hay on his election:

“Capt. Hay’s leadership comes at a pivotal time as our industry is facing complex decisions about technological integration and staffing models that directly impact aviation safety, and we are grateful to have such a strong advocate in this important role. Decisions about international airline policy affect pilots first and foremost.

“As an organization with permanent observer status at the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Air Navigation Commission, IFALPA is the global representative of airline pilots to the international aviation community from the standpoint of safety and security.

“With over 35 years of experience across four airlines and a distinguished record of leadership within ALPA, we are confident that Capt. Hay will be an effective leader. His deep understanding of the challenges facing the pilot profession today, including the growing concern of reduced crew operations, will benefit pilots around the globe.

“We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with Capt. Hay as he takes on his new responsibilities at IFALPA. Together, we will work to define strategies and create solutions that serve the best interests of pilots worldwide.”
