Aero-TV: Foundation for the Next 50 Years -Continental Motors Group's Rhett Ross

Continental Motors Pours Millions Into New Factory Tooling…

Continental Motors Group has made a $40 million investment in new factory equipment as it looks towards the future of reciprocating aviation engines.

Rhett Ross, President and CEO of Continental Motors Group, told Aero-News CEO and editor-in-chief Jim Campbell at AirVenture this summer that the company recently opened a new factory for its North American business with a goal of taking the company another 50 years into the future.

Earlier this year, Continental chose the city of Mobile, Alabama, for the first step of a 3-year global investment plan to take its manufacturing, customer service and engineering infrastructure to the next level. This first step will build a new, state of the art manufacturing facility and corporate office located at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley and will replace the company’s current 11 building footprint with a single, state-of-the-art facility designed for lean manufacturing and office systems.

Ross said that the company is making substantial inroads into the Diesel aircraft engine market in the U.S., having delivered a dozen Jet A-powered Cessna 172s in the United States as of July. The company also had on display the first Vans RV-10 powered by a CD-200 engine.

Ross said there were other announcements coming "late this year." So that should be just about any time.
