Classic Aero-TV: Dronetech's AV-1 Albatross - High-Endurance VTOL UAV Platform

Extreme Flexibility With VTOL Performance...

While at the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) 2014 convention, ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell looked at some of the leading innovations in UAV technology. In this video Jim talks with Arturo Galvan, the General Manager of Drone Tech UAV.

Galvan introduces Jim to their AV-1 Albatross drone. The AV-1 Albatross is developed from a twin-engine drone. The original version uses two gasoline engines and has an endurance of up to 20 hours. The new variation on display has added to it vertical lift engines that allow it to take off and land vertically yet still have the capability of a long endurance UAV.

Galvan explained that their company specializes in developing UAV concepts and working with manufacturers to produce the final product. The AV -1 Albatross drone has applications that can be applied to many markets, and Galvan said the civilian market is still waiting for the FAA to develop its UAV regulations.

This video provides an interesting look at what the future holds for UAVs.
