Continental Motors Group Southern Avionics Operating Unit To Move To Fairhope

Will Lead To Further Integration With MRO Services And Easier Access

Southern Avionics and Interiors, an operating division of Continental Motors Group, will be relocating to the H. L. Sonny Callahan airport (KCQF) in Fairhope, AL from its current location at the Mobile downtown Airport (KBFM).

Southern Avionics and Interiors was founded over thirty years ago and has built, over the years, a reputation for excellence in avionics installations and repairs, instrument panel fabrication and interior design and refurbishment. Southern Avionics and Interiors will move to Fairhope, AL, a few minutes away from its original location, where Continental Motors Services has its main base of operations for piston engine and GA aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul operations. Continental Motors Services current Fairhope (KCQF) facility includes three maintenance hangars and its recently refurbished 25,000 square foot MRO facility.

“Our vision when we acquired the assets of Southern Avionics two years ago was to establish a one stop shop covering all of the needs of the general aviation pilot/owner, engine overhaul and repair; aircraft maintenance; avionics sales, repair, and installations; and interior upgrades," said Bill Stromberg, Vice President MRO, Continental Motors Group. “Continental Motors Services and Southern Avionics were already working closely together. With the move of Southern Avionics to Fairhope, our vision becomes a reality. The ability to work multiple maintenance activities in parallel by having all work done at a single location will reduce both customer cost and downtime,” he finished.

All the capabilities and personnel from Southern Avionics and Interiors will move to Fairhope’s modern and spacious premises located on an active 6,600 ft runway with instrument approaches, allowing easy access to the airport for aircraft of all sizes. We will continue to offer the services that made the reputation of Southern Avionics such as legacy avionics bench repairs, Pitot/Static certifications, and also specialized services, such as RVSM certification, database and software upgrades, service bulletin compliance and proprietary STC installations (Cessna Citation alarm panel installations). Southern Avionics offers the full range of new avionics installations, glass cockpit retrofits, and ADS-B installations. Southern Avionics also offers design services for new or refurbished instrument panels, CNC cutting, powder coating and silk screening of main or sub-panels for all aircraft, from the smallest LSA to the large business jets.
