Aero-TV: The Merlin PSA - Big Bang/Little Bucks!

The Single-Place Merlin Personal Sport Aircraft From Aeromarine-LSA...

In this video from the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo 2016, being held in Sebring, Florida, you’ll not only see a neat little airplane, you’ll also see some nasty looking weather in the background as ANN CEO and Editor-In-Chief, Jim Campbell, takes a look at an airplane called the AeroMarine Merlin PSA. To get the details, Jim talks with Chip Irwin the owner of AeroMarine LSA.

As Irwin describes the airplane, the first thing you see and hear about is the fact that it’s a single-place airplane. Don’t confuse this with an ultralight…everything about Merlin PSA is the real deal. Irwin says it can climb at 1,600 feet per minute and cruise at a bit over 100 miles per hour using a Rotax 582 engine. The letters, PSA, that follow the name of the airplane stand for, Personal Sport Aircraft, and that’s just what it is.

And wait till you see this…electric power is being planned for the airplane and Irwin shows us an amphibious floats design with retractable landing gear. The landing gear can be raised and lowered via a bluetooth interface in the cockpit or with a free iPhone application.

The video gives you plenty of detail, and Irwin is enthusiastic and fun to listen to.
