Two Philippine Air Force Pilots Fatally Injured During Demonstration Flight

Plane Was Taking Part In An Exhibition Celebrating Liberation Day In Batangas

A Philippine Air Force plane went down in the ocean Saturday morning resulting in the fatal injury of both of the pilots on board.

According to a report appearing in GMA News Online, the plane ... described as a training aircraft ... was one of four that was taking part in an exhibition to celebrate the 70th Liberation Day in Nasugbu in Batangas province. The Philippine Air Force confirmed that two of its pilots had been killed when the plane went down in the water about 900 feet offshore.

The names of the pilots have not been released. They were declared dead when they were brought back to Villamor Air Base.

Helicopters from the base participated in the recovery effort. The aircraft had reportedly departed from Fernando Air Base in Lipa City to take part in the formation training mission.
