Airbus Cites Increasing Demand for H160s

Newcomer to Company Portfolio Sees Waxing Interest

Airbus Helicopters said it has continued to see increasing demand for its H160 and ACH160 helicopters, with more than 12 ordered throughout the North American market.

While the numbers may seem small when contrasted against competing rotary-wing manufacturers, but Airbus is playing in the American sandbox against long time dominants like Bell, Sikorsky, and Boeing. Airbus seems comfortable that the H160 will win over additional American buyers with its Euro-scented presentation and modern accouterments.

“The H160 features the highest level of innovation and was designed to provide our customers with tremendous value in comfort, performance and safety, regardless of the mission they’re carrying out,” said Romain Trapp, President of Airbus Helicopters, Inc. and Head of the North America region. “The addition of an H160 FFS in North America ensures pilots have easy access to a smooth transition between theory and practice.”

Their H160 has seen continued popularity abroad, to the point that Full Flight Simulators have become a popular offering in Helixim’s training facility in Marignane, France with more than 1,500 hours accrued since their installation in 2020. Helisim believes there’s plenty of business to be had in the USA, with the joint Airbus Helicopters/Thales operation planning the installation of an H160 level D sim in the USA. Once in, it will be able to accommodate 400 pilots and 4,000 flight hours per year.
