Cherokee Pilots Already Planning For AirVenture 2010

Will Celebrate 50th Anniversary Of The First Cherokee

The Cherokees 2 Osh committee is excited to announce the first mass arrival of Cherokees at AirVenture will take place in 2010.

The day will begin on Friday, July 23 with staging in Waupaca, WI, flying the Mass Arrival to Oshkosh, and ending with a celebration dinner in the Nature Center on the EAA's grounds, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first Cherokee built in Vero Beach, Florida by Piper Aircraft Corporation. Fifty lucky Cherokee pilots will go down in history as those who flew the "50 On The 50th".

Training will begin the previous day at Waupaca Airport (KPCZ).  The FAA and EAA have mandated the 1300 time slot on Friday for the arrival of the group. Because the FAA limited this first arrival to 50 planes, the slots will be given by date of pre-registration. After 50 have been received, a waiting list of hopeful pilots will be kept.

The earliest built Cherokee to participate in the mass arrival will receive special recognition from the group.
